PHILIPSBURG--The Board of the Unified Resilient St. Maarten Movement (URSM) has requested the immediate resignation of Minister of Public Health, Social Development and Labor (VSA) Richinel Brug, citing concerns over integrity, and alleged conflicts within his Cabinet. The Minister has rejected the request, stating it is based on “assumptions, unfounded allegations, and a blatant disregard for the truth,” and has made clear he will not resign.

PHILIPSBURG--A motion of no confidence has been submitted in Parliament against Minister of Public Housing, Spatial Planning, Environment and Infrastructure (VROMI) Patrice Gumbs, with Member of Parliament (MP) Lyndon Lewis sharply criticizing what he described as ongoing failures in leadership, infrastructure management and public service delivery.

MARIGOT--Calypso Events, organiser of Les Mardis de Grand Case, announced it has no option but to suspend the event as of today, Tuesday, March 31, until further notice as it has not received confirmation of the subventions “announced and promised” by the Collectivité for February and March 2026.

Athletes from the St. Maarten National Athletics Federation departed the island on Monday en route to Grenada to compete in the 53rd CARIFTA Games, taking place April 4–6, 2026, where they will represent the country on one of the Caribbean’s premier youth track and field stages.
