Family Dream suspects had gun

COLE BAY--The four men arrested on September 24 for the robbery of Family Dream Supermarket on Well Road were found in possession of a gun, a police report confirms.

The Daily Herald reported in yesterday's paper that four young men had been arrested after quick police action following a robbery at the Cole Bay supermarket. At that time, the police were not yet in a position to give details.

"A young man, dressed completely in dark clothing, with his face covered and brandishing a handgun, stormed into the supermarket. Whilst threatening the cashier, he forced her to hand over the money. After committing this act, the suspect fled on foot through the nearby streets," said the report.

The investigating officers started a search in the area, which led to a house on Union Road. "This house is well known to police as a place where young men sit under the trees to sell and use drugs. At that address, four young men were sitting under the trees next to an old car," the report continues.

During a search of the vehicle, several pieces of clothing and footwear matching the description of the clothing and footwear worn by the suspect during the robbery, were found. As the search continued, a black revolver was found in the dashboard of the car.

The clothing and weapon were confiscated for further investigation. The four suspects J.L. (19), J.G. (29), G.L.C. (20) and J.R.S. (23) remain in custody.
