St. Martin’s Brown hits game winner

felixGERMANY—The French National Baseball team advanced to the next round of the 2014 European Championship along with Netherlands, Spain, Italy and Czech Republic.

France won their final game of the round against Belgium by a walk off home run by St. Martin's Felix Brown. Two other players from the Friendly island ball players, Rene leveret and Omar Williams are also on the team. France defeated Belgium 5-4.

France grabbed the early lead in the first inning and remained in control until the seventh when Belgium tied the game. Belgium took the lead in the eighth and Brown hit the game winner in the ninth.

Brown, a professional baseball player, who played this past season in the Canadian American League, played youth baseball with the St. Martin Pony League which was instrumental in getting players from St. Martin on the France National Team.

The final stage of the Tournament will take place in Brno, Czech Republic from September 18 to 21.
