Living together often makes two people painfully aware of incompatibilities they did not recognise while living separately. However, it can be just as painful for "live-togethers" to break up as for a married couple to get divorced, although not as legally complicated unless there are children involved.
The best I can advise is that you do not let yourself be pressured into doing anything for which you do not feel completely ready – living together, marrying or whatever.
