Destined 4 Greatness: Building young athletes through baseball

By Foresee Foundation

When the 37ERS – an under-12 boys Little League baseball team – began receiving invitations to participate in tournaments abroad, a group of parents quickly realized that talent alone would not be enough. To make those opportunities possible, they needed an organization that could raise funds, support travel and invest in the team’s continued development.

Destined 4 Greatness Foundation (D4G) was established in 2024 to create more possibilities for young baseball players in St. Maarten, where opportunities for sports development are often limited. What began as a response to the needs of one dedicated team has since grown into a broader mission based on principles of youth empowerment, discipline, mentorship and community support through sports.

The foundation contributes to a stronger St. Maarten by creating a safe, positive environment where young people can stay active, build confidence and learn important life lessons through baseball. Three dedicated coaches – Jannitro Williams, Anthony Williams and Judensy Coffie – volunteer their time two to three times a week to train and mentor the boys. The foundation also rents John Cooper Jose Lake Sr. Ballpark monthly to ensure the team has a proper space to practice, develop and grow together.

One of D4G’s proudest accomplishments was winning the St. Maarten Little League Tournament with an undefeated record of 12 wins and 0 losses. In 2024, The 37ers also participated in the Baseball in Paradise Tournament in Aruba. Although they did not win the overall tournament, the boys performed exceptionally well, winning four out of six games. More importantly, they represented St. Maarten with pride, unity and good sportsmanship on an international stage.

That trip was made possible through the overwhelming support of businesses, organizations, parents and community members, who helped raise the necessary funds in time. For the foundation, it was a powerful reminder of how much the community believes in its youth and their potential.

In 2025, The 37ERS once again won the St. Maarten Little League Tournament, further confirming the strength, dedication and promise of the team.

What makes Destined 4 Greatness Foundation special is the family atmosphere surrounding the boys. The coaches continue to invest in each player’s development, not only in terms of baseball skills, but also in character, confidence and discipline. The foundation’s mission is to support young athletes as they pursue future opportunities in baseball, while also giving them lifelong lessons through international exposure and recognition.

This year, the team will once again travel abroad, this time competing in the U13 category. D4G hopes to continue building partnerships and sponsorships to support that journey.
