Etty Ket

Dear Queenie, I received a wedding invitation from someone at work that I hardly even know. Sometimes we chat in the break room, but that’s about it, we’re in different departments and don’t even work together.

Queenie, would it be rude not to attend? And do I have to get them a gift?—Etty Ket

Dear Etty Ket,

It would not be rude not to attend, as long as you RSVP to that effect promptly. Make some excuse about previous plans or a prior commitment, if it will ease your mind. And if you do not attend, you are not obliged to give them a gift.
