DOMINICAN REPUBLIC-- Team Island Water World Sailor, Frits Bus, retains Caribbean Master title at the Midwinter Caribbean Laser Regatta.
The three day long Regatta is sailed of Cabarete in the Dominican Republic.
This regatta is organized to accommodate sailors from the Northern Hemisphere to train for the upcoming summer season.
The weather was unusual calm in the first 2 days of racing especially the second day produced only drifting conditions and a group of Humpback whales passing very close by.
The whales performed an aerial show. Sailing had to be discontinued due to the closeness and playfulness of the whales that where passing with their young.
After the first day Bus was in second place but the drifting races on the second day where not in his favour, while staying top Caribbean master he dropped to sixth overall.
In the last day the wind kicked in but Bus was not able to climb past some of the young sailors. Next regatta will be the Open Heineken Light Caribbean Championships in June.
