St. Maarten College ballplayer is warming up for a great season

NEW YORK--St. Maarten College baseball player Junior King is having a great preseason. King a sophomore at Genesee College in New York is playing right field and batting in the number four and five slot.


Last year king played in 26 games. He averaged .368 with one home run, 15 runs batted in scored eight times and stole four bases.
In preseason in his first day of play this year he hit a double in the first game and drove in a run.
“In the Second game the sophomores started and I played Right Field. I was hitting five in the line-up. My first a-bat I hit a double to bring home 2 runs. On my second a-bat I hit a solo homerun to left field. And my third a-bat I hit a double. We won the game!”
Game three resulted in more runs. “My first a-bat I hit a solo homerun and my second at-bat I hit a grand slam. And my third and fourth a-bat I hit a double. My last a-bat I flyout. I went 4-5 with 5 RBIs. We won the game.”
The next day King was back in Right Field but batting number four. “My first at-bat I flew out and my second at-bat I hit a 2 run-homerun. My third a-bat I hit another 2 run-homerun. We won that game also.
“On October 13, King and many of his teammates will attend a Try-out Showcase where College and Pro scouts will be looking for new talent. “The showcase is for all sophomores in our league. This showcase is for players looking to move on to different schools and players who are looking forward to hopefully getting drafted.”
