Busy mother

Dear Queenie,

I want to join a service club, but my husband doesn’t want to be bothered with babysitting our children when I go out, especially if he wants to go out to do his own things at the same time.

Queenie, do you think this is fair?—Busy mother

Dear Busy mother,

Taking care of one’s own children is not “babysitting,” it is parenting.

The two of you should try to coordinate your schedules. If you both want to be out at the same time, hire a babysitter. And if you have a job and contribute to the household budget, you should pay your share of the babysitter’s fee.
