PHILIPSBURG--No candidate has yet been decided on to take up the post of Minister of Public Health, Social Development and Labour VSA. The ministry has been without a minister since former Minister Emil Lee resigned last month following a motion of no confidence passed by Parliament.
Prime Minister Leona Romeo-Marlin is tending to the VSA portfolio until a new minister is appointed sometime in the future.
United Democrats deputy leader Member of Parliament Sarah Wescot-Williams told the press on Friday that the United Democrats/St. Maarten Christian Party coalition is yet to decide on a candidate. She did say that names have been mentioned within and outside of the coalition circles.
Wescot-Williams confirmed that one option that has been talked about is having Minister Plenipotentiary Jorien Wuite return home from The Hague to take up the VSA post. Wuite had previously served as Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports and as Secretary-General of VSA.
