At 59, Desiree Winkel prepares for a month-long expedition.
PHILIPSBURG--Personal and medical trainer Desiree Winkel is preparing to undertake an ambitious high-altitude expedition in the Himalayas, where she aims to climb six mountains exceeding 6,000 metres.
Winkel (59) is scheduled to depart at the end of April for the month-long expedition, which will begin with her arrival in Kathmandu. The project, titled “6×6000+ Meters,” marks one of her most demanding challenges to date.
In preparation, Winkel has spent the past several months undergoing intensive physical and mental training. Known for her work in fitness and health, she is now combining her professional discipline with her passion for mountaineering.
Through the climb, Winkel hopes to inspire others to pursue their goals regardless of age or difficulty. She has emphasised the importance of maintaining a positive mindset while facing the extreme conditions of high-altitude climbing.
Sponsorship support has played a key role in making the expedition possible, helping to cover the logistical and technical demands of the journey. Winkel is also sharing updates on her preparations and progress through her social media platforms.
She is expected to return at the end of May. Supporters in the community are following her journey closely and wishing her a safe and successful expedition.
