SIMPSON BAY—SXM Tri Academie’s Stephan Seymour won the 2016 Greenhouse to Greenhouse Run on Sunday in 35:56, close to a minute slower than Christophe Lannoy’s winning time in 2015.
The record time for this race is 31:30 set in 2013 and still held by Omarco Robinson.
Second to cross the finish line in Pelican on Sunday was Jeanot Govin (38:45) and third Shannon Richardson (39:00). Kai Piscione shot through the finish line to take fourth overall (39:23) and top junior. Dominique Le Pelletier was fifth (40:29).
Patricia Nolf was first female runner to finish in 43:11.
The walk category was won by Marlon Hart (1:04:02), second place to Jean Pierre Seymour (1:13:21) and third place Veronique Boucoud (1:13:22).
A side show to the run is the kayak category where kayakers attempt to beat the first runner to the finish line, departing from Great Bay beach close to the Greenhouse.
It hasn’t happened yet but Stuart Knaggs was close last year, just behind the first runner.
This year choppy, off-shore wind conditions made for a slower paddle. According to the results Stuart won the 8.75K kayak distance in 43:10 followed by Juan Pablo Piscione in 45:07.
The other three kayakers did a slightly shorter course. Sebastien Hoendervangers was third (48:10), Thierry Personne fourth (48:45) and Mary Wrigley fifth (49:18).
The Greenhouse Run attracted 71 participants this year.
