Team Two wins 3-on-3 tourney

CUPECOY--Kenya Hodge, Louis Fernandes, Kevin Edwards and Thomas Lake won the 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament organized by Island Hoops at Blue Mall over the weekend. A total of seven teams competed in the three weekends of play.

The winners, dubbed Team Two faced Team One in the final.
Both teams had their own adversity to overcome, explained President of Island Hoops Paul Bell.   Team One suffered setbacks with injuries, while Team Two fought hard from behind in several games – including the finale which they won 21-14.
The tournament win earns Team Two the opportunity to represent St. Maarten at the inaugural Antilles IBF 3-on-3 Hoops Championships on St. Lucia.
The tournament, hosted by Island Hoops and presented by Computech, was St. Maarten’s introduction to the growing international craze of 3-on-3 basketball and was the first FIBA endorsed 3-on-3 tournament on St. Maarten.
Island Hoops will continue to host FIBA-endorsed 3x3 tournaments with the ultimate goal to qualify for the 2018 Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Helping make the tournament a success were Computech, Principle Accounting & Consulting Services, Ztoh, Integrated Health & Rehab, Intermar, Safe Cargo, CC1, Heavenly Water, ILTT, Artistic Drive, LIVVITT, King Owl Films, Bell Tours, Laser 101 and Blue Mall.
