Four local swim teams represented by 71 athletes competed seventh annual Ballerina Sweetheart Meet at the Carib Swim Team Pool in Cole Bay on Sunday.
COLEBAY – Super Splash Swim Team won the seventh annual Ballerina Sweetheart Meet on Sunday. A total of 71 athletes from Carib Swim Team, Supersplash, Sharks and Dophins disputed the water of the CST Colebay pool, including a number of 11-15 year olds who are training for the 2019 Carifta Games taking place in Barbados this April.
Super Splash won the meet with 282 points, followed close by Carib Swim Team with 272 points, third place went to Sharks with 132 points, Dolphins were awarded 112 points.
Swimmers from 7 to 15 years swam 22 individual events and six relays in distances of 50m to 400m, in all four competitive strokes and individual medley. Swimmers could swim up to four individual races and two relays. Competition was fierce and all teams were represented during the awards ceremony.
All Teams were represented during the medal ceremony but special congratulations go to the following 6 swimmers who won gold in all of their individual races:
Girls 11-12: Adaya Bourne (Sharks)
Girls 15-15: Emma Marshall (Carib Swim Team)
Boys 9-10: Mike Croes (Super Splash)
Boys 11-12: Matias Piazza (Carib Swim Team)
Boys 13-14: Sacha Gibbs (Carib Swim Team)
Boys 15-16: Vadym Semkiv (Carib Swim Team)
The next meet is the Elementary Schools Meet sponsored by Caribbean Gems taking place on February 24.
