To date none of the group met Netherlands Antilles Track and Field Federation benchmarks to attend the Carifta Games that will be celebrated on Cayman Island Easter Week.
The St. Maarten Amateur Athletic Association organized Saturday's meet at Raoul Illidge Sports Complex.
"The Board of the St. Maarten Association will now see which athletes came close to the qualifying mark," said Les Brown of the St. Maarten Amateur Athletic Association. He explained a selection of athletes will be made and training will continue as the Official qualifying will be held in Curacao February 19 to 20.
Top performers in the boys 100 meters were Mike Destine age 17 with a time of 10.69 Sheldon Wilson (16) 12.06, Chris George (15) 12.06 and Edwin Ruan (14) 11.90. The bench mark times are Under 20 10.60 and Under 17 10.90
Rachel Casimir won the girls 100 age 17 with a time of 13.53 and Nora Williams (14) had a time of 15.24. The girls benchmark time is Under 20 11.67 and under 17 12.19.
Leandre Peters (17) topped the 200 meter race with a time of 23.95. Chris George ran 23.09 and Brian Clair (13) finished at 25.27. The Under 20 time to qualifiy is 21.60 and Under 17 21.97.
Rachel Casimir (17) won the girls 200 with a time of 27.92. Odessa Ashbey (14) ran 29.15.
Mike Destine (17) was clocked at 54.05 in the boys 400. Sheldon Wilson (16) ran 58.09. The 400 meter bench mark is 48.5 for athletes under 20 and 49.52fot under 17.
Reinard Ranis ran the 3,000 meter race with a time of 12.02.The bench mark is 9:53.11.
Leandre Peters (17) sailed 5.77 meters in the Long Jump. Chris George (15) topped out at 5.38.
Athletes who are not selected to qualify for Carifta in Curacao have the opportunity to compete in the Proctor Classic Track & Field meet in Anguilla February 20.
