IWW and Kidz At Sea win first sailing race of the year

SIMPSON BAY--Team Island Water World in racing class and Team Garth Kidz at Sea in the LSR class won  their respective classes in the first St. Maarten Yacht Club Keelboat Race of the year.


   Race officer Paul Miller designed some interesting courses, and sailors were challenged  with  very difficult windshifts in Simpson Bay.
 Jan v d Eynde and his crew on Wannabee, where leading overall going into the final race
with two first places.
  With a good start and rounding the first mark ahead of the pack, Team Island Water World never looked back and went to go for their second first place.  IWW ended with equal points with Wannabee but won via the tiebreaker.

  In the LSR class, Garth and the Kidz At  Sea won the first three race and finishing second in the last race.
  Teams are gearing up for the coming Heineken Regatta. There is  one more practise race for local sailors.
