French, Dutch side athletes among winners at Bodybuilding contest

MAHO—The sixth BFASM Inter-Island Bodybuilding, Fitness and Physique Championship held in Casino Royale Saturday night saw over 50 athletes grace the stage from several Caribbean islands, the largest participation in the short history of the event. They were judged in 10 categories, a lengthy task that required an intermission half way through.


  French and Dutch side athletes gave an excellent account of themselves in their individual categories with Lucien “Siliky” Gamiette from the BFASM team winning Lightweight Bodybuilding and Luanda Gutierrez from Dutch St. Maarten winning the Bikini Short Class.winners
  The overall champions of the night however were Men’s Physique winner Macwhirr Lewis from Anguilla, Bikini winner Jenna de Leon from Trinidad, and Heavyweight winner from Barbados, Stevenson Bell.
  Each were presented with a $2,000 cheque from BFASM President Francois Carty.
  The Bikini Short Class saw the win going to Luanda Gutierrez from St. Maarten with Carolina Hyman from French St. Martin in second place and Ibon Palacio, also from French St. Martin, in third.
  Men’s Physique Short Class was won by Trinidad’s Rocky Kensley. The Body Fitness category was won by T’chell Harris from Trinidad while the Dutch side’s Anais Piekes-Kwiers took third place.
  Lucien Gamiette, looking ripped and more defined than ever, won the Lightweight Bodybuilding category. The Dutch side’s Wheetney Dampa just missed out on a trophy, coming in fourth place.
  The highly impressive McWhirr Lewis from Anguilla was a cut above the rest winning the Men’s Physique Tall Class and BFASM Team’s very own Junior Guercin finished in third place.
  Anguilla dominated the Middleweight bodybuilding category taking all three spots. Emmanuel Jeffers was first, Geshaun Clarke second and Verdine Connor third.
  Geshaun Clarke was voted the best poser of the evening.
  Bikini Tall Class was won by Trinidad’s Jenna de Leon, Roxanne Pinnock from Anguilla was second and Shakira Doughlin from Barbados, third.
  The much anticipated Heavyweight bodybuilders were the last to come on stage. Stevenson Bell from Barbados won the category, with St. Maarten’s Desmond Patterson coming in second and Peter McGiver from Anguilla was third.
  The evening was emceed by entertainer Ricky Da Phox.
