Bikini athlete Rosi Deuff shines at Darcy Beckles Invitational

PHILIPSBURG—Three athletes from the St. Maarten Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (SMBBFA) represented St. Maarten at the Darcy Beckles Invitational in Barbados on Saturday, October 15, with one of the team achieving third place in category.

The three included Male Physique athlete Burnagis Browne, Rosi Deuff in the Bikini Category, and Desmond Patterson in Heavyweight Bodybuilding.
Burnargis Browne placed fifth in the Tall Class for his first time competing in an off-island competition but due to a mix up he was placed in the Short Class, hence the shorter athletes looked fuller and more compact than he did, SMBBFA noted in its release.
However, he was not discouraged and is as eager as ever to move on to the next competition. There were six competitors in his class. Guyana placed third, Trinidad was second and Barbados was declared the winner.
Desmond Patterson placed fifth in his category among 10 competitors. Unfortunately Desmond was recovering from the flu. His preparation did not go as planned as his ailment affected his training and hampered his dieting.
Commitments to the show’s promoter however were already made and showing good sportsmanship he competed although not at his full potential. Antigua placed third in this category, Suriname was second and Barbados was first.
SMBBFA newcomer Rosi Deuff in the Bikini category had the biggest achievement on Team St. Maarten by capturing the third place. She was ecstatic with her placing and was proud to represent the Association as well as St. Maarten and is looking forward to competing next year again.
Rosi's first time on stage was in 2011 at the BFASM Invitational and in the same year the Allison Williams Classic.  The Bikini category saw Barbados first and Suriname second.
“Overall we are proud of the athletes’ achievements, and dedication,” SMBBFA stated.  “Preparations will be in full swing for futures events. We would like to say great job to the athletes and thank you for representing the Association and Country St. Maarten.”
A total of 71 athletes registered for the Invitational in Barbados but only 59 decided to compete on stage on Saturday
