B-Division teams take centre stage in KFC T20 Sunday showcase

CUL DE SAC—Fans of local cricket will be treated to a special B-Division double-header this Sunday in the ongoing KFC T20 Tournament at Caribe Lumber Ballpark.

Traditionally, B-Division teams compete on Saturdays while the A-Division sides occupy the Sunday spotlight. However, all four B-Division teams will be featured this Sunday in what organisers expect to be an exciting attraction for spectators.

The action bowls off at 10:00am when Veterans face We Lounge Kaieteur, and then Masters clash with Future Champs B at 2:00pm in a fascinating contest between experience and youth.

Masters, a team primarily made up of players aged 40 years and older, will come up against a youthful Future Champs B outfit consisting mainly of Under-19 players. The encounter has already been dubbed “the battle of the oldest against the youngest.”

The B-Division competition has already produced one win each for several teams. Future Champs B received a walkover victory against Veterans, Kaieteur stunned Masters in an upset result, while Masters rebounded with a victory over Veterans.

Masters are expected to rely on experienced campaigners Don Farrell and captain Lerry Baptiste along with newcomers Romain Doodnauth, Lionel Ritchie and Damian Williams.

Kaieteur will look toward match-winner Rasheed Pirkham together with Viminlesh Raghubir, Anil Persaud and Outar Netram to continue their strong performances.

Future Champs B will depend heavily on promising youngsters Jethan Edward, Jaeden Bramble, Rishie Pookriyal and Krish Sidhwa to lead the charge.

Meanwhile, Veterans, another over-40 side, are expected to showcase the experience of captain Tommy George and Reginald Joseph.

In Saturday’s featured A-Division encounter, NAGICO United Cricket Club will take on Windward Express Conquerors.

NAGICO enters the contest with a 2-1 record following victories over Future Champs A and Sun Insurance Jaguars. Conquerors stand at 1-1 after defeating Future Champs A. Both teams, however, suffered losses to unbeaten Motorworld Spartans.
