PHILIPSBURG — The countdown has officially started for the BDO Half Marathon powered by ILTT, with already more than 300 runners and walkers registered for next weekend’s event. Participants from a wide variety of countries are expected at the starting line on Sunday 17 May, once again giving the annual race event a strong international character.
Registration remains open until May 14, after which entries will officially close.
The event continues to attract everyone from experienced athletes to first-time runners and walkers. Participants can choose between the Half Marathon, 10K, 5K and the popular 7.5K Walk Around the Lagoon. Registration includes an event shirt, finisher medal, breakfast and drinks.
Organizer St. Maarten Road Runners expects a busy race weekend, beginning with the official package pick-up on Saturday at Country Club Port de Plaisance. Participants will receive their bib numbers, event shirts and sponsor gifts ahead of race day.
Main sponsor BDO says it is proud to support an event that promotes health, movement and community involvement through its message: “FitForLife! FitForBDO! If we move together, we get stronger together.” Organizers also noted the increasing international recognition of the event, with participants traveling to St. Maarten specifically to take part in the race weekend.
