The playground at the Raoul Illidge Sports Complex in Cay Hill has received an upgrade! The play area is all spruced up and some new equipment has been installed. This is thanks to a project by the National Sports Institute (NSI) with support from the Windward Islands Bank (WIB).
NSI Director Jisk Goslinga pointed out that play is important for children’s development because “through play, children build not only physical skills, but also confidence, coordination, problem-solving, and social skills.” He said that the new equipment “provides many different ways to climb, balance, crawl, explore, and interact, helping children develop these skills while simply having fun.”
Quinten Fraai, President and CEO Maduro & Curiel’s Bank, said that the company supported the project because “children deserve safe, accessible, and enjoyable spaces to play, learn, and grow”, adding that the playground benefits families all across St. Maarten.
