Scared passenger

Dear Queenie,

My husband is not a good driver. He drives too fast, drives up too close to the car ahead and passes it even when there is oncoming traffic or when he can’t see ahead because of a curve or a hill, talks or texts on his cell phone while the car is moving, or looks around to see the scenery instead of watching the other traffic.

The funny thing is, he gets queasy when I do the driving even though I am a very careful driver.

I have asked him to pay more attention to his driving but he just ignores what I say.

Queenie, what more can I do?—Scared passenger

Feeling short-changed

Dear Queenie,

After my mother died I sold her car to some friends of mine. Some time afterward they mentioned that they had found an old wallet of hers under one of the seats, with quite a bit of money inside.

Queenie, shouldn’t they have given me back the money, or at least part of it?—Feeling short-changed

Bereaved

Dear Queenie,

My father died not too long ago and while everyone gave me their condolences I have noticed that they do not like to hear me talk about him. When I do there will be strange looks and an awkward silence.

Queenie, how do I explain that it helps me to remember him and eases my sorrow?—Bereaved
