William rebuffs Theo’s claims about generator

PHILIPSBURG--“No directive” from the Council of Ministers has been given to the Supervisory Board of Directors of utilities company GEBE to hold off on the purchasing of much-needed generators, said Prime Minister William Marlin on Wednesday.

Marlin was rebuffing a statement made on Tuesday by United People’s (UP) party leader Member of Parliament Theo Heyliger. The MP said in a press statement that the Cabinet wants the purchase of the new generator stalled until a study is carried out on the acquisition.

Government has not met with anyone from GEBE, Marlin said. He accused Heyliger of “misleading” the people with his press statements. “What they are doing is hiding their incompetence for the past year,” he said.

The UP Government has “done nothing” for the people in the past year in government, other than giving away the Emilio Wilson Estate, Marlin said.
