NWS NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
800 AM EDT TUE AUG 18 2015

For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:

1. Thunderstorm activity associated with an area of low pressure
located several hundred miles west-southwest of the Cape Verde
Islands has continued to become better organized this morning.
Environmental conditions are conducive for additional development,
and only a slight increase in organization would result in the
formation of a tropical depression later today while the system
moves westward to west-northwestward at 10 to 15 mph.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...high...90 percent
* Formation chance through 5 days...high...90 percent

2. A non-tropical area of low pressure is expected to form within a
couple of hundred miles of Bermuda over the western Atlantic Ocean
in a few days. Environmental conditions could support some
tropical or subtropical development of the system by the weekend
while it moves slowly northward.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...near 0 percent
* Formation chance through 5 days...low...20 percent
