The Cliff also closed on Governor’s orders

ST. EUSTATIUS--Following the closure of adult entertainment centre Zeelandia Lounge/Pink Pearl last week Wednesday, Acting Island Governor of St. Eustatius Julian Woodley on Monday announced that The Cliff entertainment club was also closed down.

Governor Woodley informed that The Cliff was closed due to medical reasons, irregularities concerning the job statuses of workers, “and other issues.”

Zeelandia Lounge, also known as “The Nest” was closed down last week as the club is suspected of involvement in human smuggling. The club on Statia works under the same management as the Casa Blanca brothel in St. Maarten which is subject of a large investigation dubbed the “Papegaai” case.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office Zeelandia Club had violated “essential conditions” in the policy under which prostitution is tolerated on Statia.
