Suspect wanted by Interpol arrested

CUPECOY--Police officers apprehended wanted Interpol suspect Elisidro Richardo Wyatte (43) in the Cupecoy area at approximately 9:45pm Wednesday.

Wyatte was near Starz Casino when police received word that he was in the vicinity. Police officers was arrested him and placed him inside one of the police vehicles.

Wyatte has Dutch nationality and is wanted by the Dominican Republic for crimes against children. The Interpol website did not specify those crimes.

  Police also confiscated his white Sonata for further investigation. Police spokesman Chief Inspector Ricardo Henson could not confirm the arrest, but investigators were able to confirm to The Daily Herald that the man arrested was indeed Elisidro Richardo Wyatte.

  Extradition will now have to be prepared between the St. Maarten Prosecutor’s Office and Justice officials in the Dominican Republic.

Wyatte will remain in police custody in the meantime.
