Power, water may be cut on Wednesday

PHILIPSBURG--Residents are to brace for possible interruption to electricity and water service on Wednesday night due to the passing of Tropical Storm Erika over the local area on Wednesday night into Thursday.

Residents are urged by utilities company GEBE to have water reserves for at least three days for drinking and sanitation in their home as soon as possible.

GEBE announced on Tuesday via a public notice that it may be required to interrupt power and water services late at night on Wednesday to avoid extensive network damage. Damage to the network would delay proper service to residents and businesses after the passing of the storm, the second to threaten the country in the past week.
