Meeting on detention facilities postponed at minister’s request

PHILIPSBURG–-The continuation of the public meeting of Parliament on detention facilities in St. Maarten that was scheduled to be held at 3:00pm on Wednesday has been postponed at the request of Justice Minister Cornelius de Weever.

  The meeting was set to discuss the management structure of the detention facilities in St. Maarten and the status and significance of the recommendations of the Progress Committee reports.

  The meeting was requested by United Democrats (UD) Members of Parliament (MP) Tamara Leonard, Sidhart “Cookie” Bijlani and Jules James.

  Parliament said in a notice that the meeting gas been postponed until further notice upon the request of the Minister.
