ST. PETERS--A man is in critical condition at St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) after being stabbed in the neck in a fight on L.B. Scott Road near its junction with St. Peters Road around 9:30am Friday.

Early reports indicate that the incident stemmed from an argument between an uncle and a nephew that escalated into a brawl.

The nephew was stabbed in the neck in the altercation, and he was later taken to SMMC in a private vehicle. Police officials said he is in critical condition as of 12:30pm Friday.

Sometime after the incident, police arrested a man near the scene of the stabbing. He had a large amount of blood on his white shirt.

However, it appears that he was not the one who stabbed the man who is now in critical condition at SMMC.

Sources say he is the man's brother, and was one of the people who carried him to the hospital.

Nevertheless, police took him to Philipsburg police station, where he is currently being held for questioning.

When he was being led away in handcuffs, he was visibly upset about the morning's graphic events, vowing that he would shoot the person who stabbed his brother.

There have been several videos of the arrest circulating on social media. It happened it full view of St. Maarten Academy's classrooms.
