June 6th named Freewinds Day

Presenting the proclamation.

WILLEMSTAD--In honour of celebrating its maiden call on June 6, 1988, and for calling Anna Bay her home for the past 30 years, as well as numerous acts of assistance to the local community, Curaçao’s government declared June 6 as Freewinds Day.

Captain of the Scientology cruise ship Ken Weber received the proclamation from Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath and Minister of Economic Development Steven Martina in advance, as Freewinds is currently offshore.

Rhuggenaath said it’s not about the somewhat controversial spiritual movement that uses the vessel for retreats. “This is about being their home port for 865 visits, its social projects benefitting the island and also support given to inhabitants of St. Maarten following the passage of Hurricane Irma.”
