Recovery in totality was discussed recently in a meeting of representatives of both sides of the island in Simpson Bay Resort. The meeting convened by the Princess Juliana International Airport Managing Board sprang from the recent memorandum of understanding on tourism signed by the French and Dutch sides.
Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transportation and Telecommunications (TEATT) Minister Cornelius de Weever provided information gathered at Seatrade Cruise Global and from American Airlines and Spirit Airlines. “We must be all on one page” when it comes to marketing the destination, he said. At the meeting were TEATT representatives, Vice President Valerie Damaseau of the French St. Martin Tourist Office, and representatives of the St. Maarten Chamber of Commerce and Industry, St. Maarten Hospitality and Trade Association, Grand Case Airport, Port St. Maarten and others. Marigot is the venue for the next monthly meeting.
