Indian merchants organise free yoga session in Omnisports Hall

MARIGOT--Some fifty Yoga devotees took part in the yoga session organised by the respective Indian Merchant Associations of both sides of the island on Sunday in the Omnisports Hall, Galis Bay.

The two hour session in connection with International Yoga day that began at 10:00am was facilitated by two invited instructors, Nathalie and Delphine. Instructions were given in French and English.

“This is the second year that we have organised this but it is the third International Day of Yoga,” explained Peter Sadarangani from the Association of Indians in St. Martin (AISM). “It’s really the brain child of the Dutch side Indian Association (IMA) president who suggested we do it together on an annual basis and I took his lead.

“The idea is to get more people to know about the health benefits of yoga, to find a more harmonious way of living, and slowly experience the transformation.

“We had less people participate this year and that was due to our Facebook page encountering some security difficulties which meant we couldn’t get the message out there as effectively as we wanted to but the IMA members did their part to let the public know about it, as well as the media.”
