CAY HILL--Utilities company GEBE, in an effort to protect its electricity grid, will install fuse sizes based on the cable rating at the source – the transformer station – supplying electricity to residents in the shanty town behind the former Cake House Supermarket.
Energy Affairs Minister Cornelius de Weever said GEBE advises area residents to restrict the use of unauthorised connections to their homes that have not been legally inspected by the Ministry of Infrastructure VROMI Inspection Department.
Adherence to GEBE’s advice “will avoid disconnection of electricity supply to that area. Should this occur, reconnection will be done the following day. This is being done to prevent electrocution and fires,” said De Weever.
