Bastille Day in The Hague

Minister Plenipotentiary Henrietta Doran-York was among dignitaries attending the Bastille Day ceremony at the French Embassy in The Hague on July 14. Doran-York met and spoke to French Ambassador Philippe Lalliot at the reception. The brief talks centered on the cooperation between the French and Dutch sides of the island.

Doran-York informed the Ambassador though the island is divided by a border, residents on both sides have always considered themselves to be one people living on one island, in harmony with one another, and are not bothered by who is from which side of the island.  Both officials mutually agreed that the sooner existing disputes are cleared up, the better it will be, in the best interest of all involved, said Doran-York in a press statement.
