Authorities control boatload of Black Friday shoppers

Authorities conducting a control on a passenger vessel on Friday. The passengers travelled to St. Maarten to take advantage of the Black Friday sales.

PHILIPSBURG--A multidisciplinary team consisting of personnel of the St. Maarten Police Force KPSM, Immigration and Border Protection Services, Royal Netherlands Marechaussee KMar, Customs, and the Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard conducted a general control on a passenger vessel that arrived in St. Maarten from St. Kitts and Nevis at 6:00am on Friday, November 29.

“Most of the passengers that arrived on the transport vessel came to St. Maarten to take advantage of the ongoing Black Friday sales that was taking place in Philipsburg.

“The purpose of the overall control was directed at monitoring and controlling the flow of goods, personal effects, hazardous items and passengers in and out of St. Maarten,” said police in a press release on Friday night.
