Team St. Maarten ready for ESPN Taekwondo Tournament

ST. PETERS—After weeks of intense training the cut has been made.  Repressnting St. Maarten at the USA International Martial Arts Festival in Orlando Florida will be LeeAnn Liu, Rheysa Tjon-Tam-Pau, Rique-Lee Rosalia, Raj Sooknarine, Shon Sooknarine, Jhavid Ramcharan, Thasan Khemraj, Sunil Mankaran, Shailen James, Shekinah Carbon and Key-mari Richardson in the youth division and adults Paulien Vuijst and Audrey van de Riet.


  The athletes from the King Yen School will compete in forms called Taeguks, sparring and break tests October 26 to 27.
  Under the direction of Grandmaster Theo Liu, team St. Maarten will face competitors from Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, USA, Canada, Surinam, Curacao, Trinidad &
Tobago and Aruba in the HP Center at ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, located on the Disney World complex.
“Participants will be featured by ESPN Wide World of Sports, said the Grandmaster.  Traveling with the team will be three team officials and supported by 14 parents.
