Team Island Water World won the first Keelboat Series Race of the St. Maarten Yacht Club 2016-2017 season, Sunday. Kick ‘em Jenny was second and Team Gill placed third. Only two yachts came out in the cruising class.
Robbie Ferron edged out Garth Steyn’s youth team Kidz at Sea. Team Island Water World is preparing for the Melges 24 Worlds that will be held in Florida, November 25 to December 3. More than 100 teams from around the world are expected to compete. Island Water World consisting of Joep Groenendijk, Olivier Bernaz, Bernard Fourie, Benoit Meesemecker, Annelise Gee and Frits Bus are the only Caribbean entry thus far.
