St. Martin cyclists continue to shine in overseas races

MARIGOT—St. Martin’s top cyclists are continuing to make their presence felt in international races, gaining valuable experience while ensuring the island is always in the spotlight.
French Quarter star Jayson Rousseau just participated in the 32nd Tour du Maroc, posting a 21st place, a 14th place and a third place on stage seven. Unfortunately, in stage eight he suffered a broken pedal and had to retire.
Meanwhile Velo Club de Grand Case (VCG) rider Adelio Brooks competed in Le Saint Gratien Race, finishing 22nd overall and fourth placed Junior. This race was open to Juniors and second and third division (seniors). And at Le Ble D’Or, a 160K race, Adelio finished in 62nd place out of 296 participants.
Adelio’s cycling goals for this season are to continue to improve results in the hope of being spotted by a talent scout for a good senior’s team next season. He also plans to take part in the 2018 Junior Cycling Tour in Guadeloupe.
His academic goals are to obtain his Baccalaureate and enroll in a Science and Technique of Physical and Sports Activities (STAPS) to prepare for a Bachelor’s Degree.
This coming weekend and next weekend, he will be joining up with Alban Clerc again for the six stage Credit Agricole Bank Race in Guadeloupe. The race is open to first, second and third categories and Juniors. VCG wished the two riders good luck. The pair return to France on April 30.
