Team Island Water World second in class at Le Voiles

ST. BARTHS--After a week of racing, Team Island Water World scored a second place in heavy weather conditions after leading class until the last race at Les Voiles, skipper Frits Bus reported.

Winning the Friday race gave the team a one-point advantage over second placed, Mutuel Caribe from Martinique.
In heavy wind conditions on Saturday the sailing team from Martinique with their heavier boat better suited to the conditions beat Team Island Water World and scored the same amount of points.  But the tie breaker worked in their favour for winning the last race.
Many racing yachts had to abandon the last race due to equipment failure or abandoned before breaking something since the squalls during racing produced top wind gusts of over 30 knots.
The Maxi Yacht "Proteus" was awarded the overall award, winning Maxi Class 1 and received the prestigious "Richard Mille " watch.
Team IWW sailed with a mix of St. Maarten and St. Barths sailors and took one of the promising St. Barths youth sailors on board. The St. Barths youth sailing programme is also sponsored by Island Water World.
