St. Maarten Volleyball opens season with award ceremony

PHILIPSBURG--St. Maarten Volleyball Association kicked off their 2016 annual senior competition   at the L.B. Scott Sports Auditorium with six female and six male teams Saturday night.  


  The evening began with the awards ceremony for the 2015 senior champions and the 2016 Secondary Interscholastic School Volleyball Tournament.
  Shush was crowned the 2015 Senior Female champion. Go For It was second and Bush Tea was third. The Female MVP from Shush was Chesley Augustine.
  Reptiles were named 2015 Senior Male Champion for the seventh straight year. Go For It was second and followed by United.  Reptiles Paul Quellery was named Male MVP.
   Rookie Of The Year awards were given to Think Williams as the top female and Allinton Augustine was the top male.
  Most Improved Player was Vast Williams for the women and Shiovanni Levenstone for the
  St. Maarten Academy won the 2016. Secondary Interscholastic School Tournament in the female division. Second went to Milton Peters College and Learning Unlimited was third. Vast Williams was named MVP.
  St. Maarten Academy also won the male division and was followed by Learning Unlimited and Milton Peters College. Arllinton Augustine was named MVP.
  Games will be played Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.  First match is at 7:30 pm.
