CURACAO--Dynamics Sporting Club took part in the 25th celebration Auto-City Trupial Track and Field Championship July 7 to 9. Dynamics won 21 medals in total, five gold, 11 silver, and five bronze.
Day 1 of the three days featured relays. Day two was Track and field and Day three was the road racing.
Competing were Bonaire, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Suriname, St. Maarten, and six teams from Curacao.
Dynamics Under 11 blew the field away by almost 50m in the 4x100 relay and broke the record running under 1 minute. However, the team was disqualified because one of the officials signalled a lane violation on the final exchange. The decision was overturned after two days of protest and film review. The relay team of Jemar Phillip, Chanel Richardson, Sebastiana Reyes and Jamal Simon were awarded gold medals during the road race ceremony.
The Under 13 4x100 relay team also blew away the field but was disqualified after a dropped baton on the final exchange.
The under 15 team of Casmi Phebe, Roshania Benjamin, Annisha George, and Denzel Washington won bronze in the 4x100 relay.
Chanel Richardson was the most outstanding female athlete for Dynamics. She won gold U-11 relay mix, gold in Long Jump, and silver in the 60m Sprint.
Jemar Phillips was the most outstanding male athlete. He won 3 medals, gold U-11 relay mix, silver in ball throw and silver in the 60m Sprint.
Jamal Simon won gold U-11 relay mix and bronze in the boys Long Jump.
Sebastiana Reyes won gold in the U-11 relay and silver in the U-11 relay.
Carlos Brison won silver in boys U-11 1000m road race.
Deshanney Gayle won silver in the girls U-13 2000m road race.
Nathan York won silver in the boys U-13 ball throw.
Annisha George won bronze in Long Jump, bronze 4x100relay mix, and silver 60m Sprint.
Denzel Washington won Gold in the 80m Sprint and silver in the 4x100m U-15 relay.
Roshania Benjamin won bronze in the U-15 relay mix.
Coach Abdule Wattley competed in the senior 20-34 male winning silver in the javelin and silver in the discus throw. The medals, considered the coaches medal award, were given to Shaniqua Michelle for perfect attendance at training and Gervani George for never quitting despite the odds and for motivation.
“I am satisfied with the athlete’s performance as this sets the platform for the future of athletics on the St. Maarten,” said the coach. “Dynamics has very talented athletes and will do everything I can to nurture that their talent and take them to the level.”
