St. Maarten’s Carlos Brison wins 1500 metre Gold in Jamaica

 PHILIPSBURG--St. Maarten’s Carlos Brison won the gold medal in the Boys Class Three final of the 1500 metres in Jamaica on Wednesday in a time of 4:18:18. Brison (14) was competing in the ISSA/Grace Kennedy Boys and Girls Championships. He attends the Calabar High School The ISSA/Grace Kennedy Boys and Girls Championships is globally the biggest track and field event involving high school students. Several of Jamaica’s greatest track-and-field talents, such as Usain Bolt, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, and Veronica Campbell- Brown, made their debut at the Boys and Girls’ Championships level before achieving international recognition. Carlos Brison is a member of Dynamics Sporting Club, and at the age of 13, was granted a full scholarship to the prestigious Calabar High School in Jamaica due to his performance at the 2022 Carifta Games in Jamaica. Carlos represented St. Maarten and performed exceptionally well in the 1500m-3000. Calabar High School is an all-male secondary school in Kingston, Jamaica, and has a rich history in the sport of Track and Field. Over the 104 years of its existence, Calabar occupies a most deserved place as the most outstanding institution in the development of Jamaica’s track and field athletics. Calabar has won the Championship 26 times at the well-known Champs Competition among all the High Schools in Jamaica.
