The St. Maarten Volleyball Association National Male Senior team won the NORSECA 2016 World Championship Qualification Tournament held August 24-28. The games were hosted by Saint Martin.
St. Maarten was pooled with British Virgin Islands and St. Martin.
St. Maarten defeated BVI 3-0. Lost to the French side 3-1 in games played Saturday The team bounce back Sunday and in the gold medal match defeated the French side 3-2.
St. Maarten will advance to the second round to be held in 2017.
Awards also went to Nicholas Henrietta (Best Setter); Leonardo J Jeffers (Best Outside Hitter); Stephan Ellis (Best Middle); Allinton Augustine (Best Defence); Riegmar Valies Courtar (Best Opposite), and Riegmar Valies Courtar (Best Scorer) and Most Valuable Player.
