SMFA’s U17 football selection participating in CFU tournament

MARIGOT—An Under 17 football selection is currently in Guadeloupe competing in a Caribbean Football Union (CFU) tournament representing the St. Martin Football Association (SMFA).

20 players from St. Martin are participating in the inter-regional tournament which has a total of 24 teams playing.
The St. Martin players left on Monday with technical adviser Hervé Happy and trainers Franck Gendrey and Patrick Mocka.
Each team is playing three matches. St. Martin played Guadeloupe on Wednesday, Curacao on Friday and are due to play the Dominican Republic on Sunday. Results were not immediately available.
The St. Martin team has been training for several months for its participation in the CFU tournament.
“This tournament will permit us to assess our level in relation to the other Caribbean islands while continuing to progress,” said Happy before the team left.
The team’s progress can be followed on the SMFA’s Facebook page.
