Phillips to fight at Caribbean Development Tournament

PHILIPSBURG--St. Maarten Middle Weight Boxer Malcolm Phillips is on his way to St. Lucia to compete in the Caribbean Boxing Development Tournament.

He will be accompanied by his coach Earl Duzong.
“The Development Tournament is the biggest competition in the Caribbean, said Duzong. “All the countries in the region will be there.”
This will be Philips second fight. “I am ready,” said Phillips. “I have worked on my conditioning. I learned a lot from my first fight. I am better prepared.
There will be five other fighters in Phillips Novice weight class.
Phillips and Duzong are scheduled to leave today. The competition runs from December 13 to 16 and the pair return December 18.
“We are going for the gold,” said Duzong. “All our St. Maarten boxers have done well at this tournament. They are always on the podium.”
Phillips is sponsored by Orange Grove Pharmacy and NAPA Auto Parts
