SIMPSON BAY—Omarco Robinson, Pascale Tschirard, and Kai Piscione emerged overall winners in their respective categories (Men, Ladies, and Junior’s) in the Red Cross Youth Chapter Fit for Life 3-Race series that concluded Sunday.
To qualify for the series overall win, runners had to participate in all three events. The three races included a 7K run on August 9, 10K run on September 13, and Sunday’s race which was reduced to 10K from 17K due to a smaller turnout, attributed to a triathlon taking place in St. Barths. Points were awarded for each race.
Robinson again was virtually unchallenged, coasting in to win Sunday’s race in 36:10. Second placed Alain Boucard from Intergeneration Runners stayed with Robinson for the early part of the race but got dropped on the return leg and finished in 39:31. Team mate Wilfred Sully was third in 40:58.
Fourth place went to Stephen Seymour (41:55) and fifth place to Francois Delaporte (42:06).
The women’s race was won by Patricia Nolf in 50:53; Pascale Tschirard was second in 52:46 and Emannuel Nadaud third in 53:23.
Pascale qualified for the series win as Patricia did only two races to Pascale’s three, of which in two she placed second.
Kai Piscione was again untouchable in the Junior category completing the distance in 44:25.
All three races were organised for the Red Cross by Tri Sport. Sunday’s race sent the runners towards Maho, Airport, Mullet Bay and Porto Cupecoy before turning at the roundabout and back to the Red Cross Building.
Red Cross Operations Manager Julia Boasman said she was very pleased with the first edition of the event confirming it will be a regular fixture each year.
“I’m confident it will grow in popularity,” she added, crediting Alexandra Baly-Stanford for creating the event. “I also want to thank Tri Sport so much for organising these races for us.”
Proceeds from the series go towards the Red Cross Youth Chapter to buy materials, attend training courses for certification and participate in exchanges with other islands.
“The Youth Chapter has members of ages 13-21 and we are always looking for more volunteers to learn first aid to be able to intervene in a crisis,” noted Vice-President Karina Wadhwani. Thank you so much for coming out to support us in the series.”
