Beach tennis tournament at Palm Beach this weekend

MARIGOT—Following hard on the heels of the beach tennis tournament organised last weekend at Waikiki Beach comes the Banque des Antilles Françaises (BDAF) Grade Three tournament organised by Friendly Caribbean Beach Tennis  (FCBT) at Palm Beach, Orient Bay, on Saturday and Sunday.
This is the last of the three-leg tour in the Northern Islands for international rankings leading up to next week’s tournament in Aruba.
Top players this weekend include, once again, the world number one Alessandro Calbucci, the number one French player Régis Courtois, and champion of France from Guadeloupe Pierre-Gilles Placide.  St. Martin based champion Julie Labrit and American Marisa Monte are favourites again to win the women’s category.
Semi-finals for men and women will be played today Saturday from 2:00pm followed by men and women finals at 4:00pm. The awards ceremony will be held at 7:30pm followed by a party.
Mixed Doubles will be played on Sunday from 9:00am. Finals are scheduled for 3:00pm followed by prize giving and party at 5:00pm.
The tournament is sponsored by BDAF, Collectivité of St. Martin, Dauphin Telecom, Sport Tech, Presidente Beer and Banana Boat.
