CUL DE SAC--St. Maarten national middle order batsman Moreland Le Blanc has successfully completed the Cricket West Indies Level 1 Coaching Certificate.
The young and ambitious cricketeer started the course since 2014 but through no fault of his own, completed it in late 2017. Last Friday, Cricket West Indies sent his certificate.
The Level 1 Coaching Certificate comprises of three components. They are a Child Protection Certificate, a Foundation Coaching Programme and Level 1 Coaching Course. Persons doing this course also have to obtain a Police Clearance and a First Aid Certificate.
Le Blanc who is a graduate from University of St. Martin performed outstandingly in the theoretical and practical courses which was done in November in St. Kitts. He received the following scores in these areas: Skill Demonstration; 75/100, Group Coaching; 55/75 and Written Paper; 78/100.
Asked what was his motivation for doing the course, Le Blanc responded: “My motivation is simple, I love the sport. I accept the fact that, perhaps, it wasn’t meant for me to make it at the highest level although there is a part of me that still won’t allow me to give up. However, I still want to be involved in cricket in some way and I know that I have the ability to be an awesome cricket coach based on my qualities and my passion for the sport.“
He continued, “but because I love the sport so much, I thought to myself, even if I don’t make it at the highest level, perhaps I can help someone else make it via my experience and knowledge in regards to the game. I love to bat more than anything else, so my end goal is to specialize in batting (become a batting coach).”
Asked about his future plans and aspirations, Le Blanc stated, “There are a lot of things that I have planned for my future, but what I do know for sure is that cricket is definitely a part of it. I also intend to write a book or books and one of them, you guessed it, will be about cricket, my passion for the sport and how cricket will teach you life.”
