VCG’s Adélio Brooks riding in the 6K time trial
MARIGOT—Velo Club de Grand Case’s (VCG) Hernan Para Suarez won the third stage of the “31st 6 Jours du Crédit Agricole” cycle race in Guadeloupe last Sunday, as the team gears up for a final assault on the podium this coming weekend.
Suarez is currently third overall in the Classement Général wih 70 pts leading into this weekend, behind leader Miny Lionel (Jeunesse Cycliste des Abymes) with 88 points and Sanchez Anzola Edwin (Team Carene Cycling Development) 77 points.
The race is split into two weekends, three races on each, and open to all categories. Suarez won the 111K stage from Gosier to Pointe Noir. The VCG team comprises Rivera Guerrero, Hernan Para Suarez, Olivier Curier, Edward Benitez, Adélio Brooks and Alban Clerc.
Adélio made a promising start as third best Junior finishing in 29th place overall in the first 118K stage on April 20 but retired from the third stage after taking a fall but was not badly hurt.
Alban Clerc clocked the 12th fastest time in the 6K uphill time trial the next day and finished 44th overall in the third stage. And another St. Martin up and coming junior rider Kenrick Cozier who is in school in Guadeloupe finished 91st overall in the third stage riding for his team, Association Cycliste du Levant.
Today’s race is a 95K ride from Sainte-Anne to Vieux Habitants followed by Sunday’s final 146K stage from Lamentin to Crédit Agricole Petit-Perou.
