Milton Peters College wins Alpha Leo club basketball

PHILIPSBURG—Milton Peters College won the Alpha Leo Club of St. Maarten interscholastic basketball tournament. Other teams competing included Sundial School, St. Dominic High and St. Maarten Academy. This is a signature project of the Leos club which is held every year.

The project tipped off at 10: ooam  and ended at 3:15pm.. Multiple Lions attended the tournament while our Leo advisor, Lion Lisandra, spoke about "The Drug Awareness Project." This was done to inform the youth about drugs and their harmful effects on their growing bodies.
“Since carnival is approaching, we wanted to let our growing youths be informed of the consequences before they try alcohol and drugs. It was great to see that the participating teams had a fun time and how much effort they put in order to keep their bodies in a healthy condition.”
Each match was intense with many teams demonstrating their strong points. One of the many intense games was MPC vs. Academy with each member pushing their limits while simultaneously improving their skills and team coordination. Academy demonstrated their swift movement and sharp awareness, but MPC was able to pull through with a win of 37-36. Of course, a competition must have winners with Milton Peter College taking first place, St. Maarten Academy taking second place and St. Dominic High school taking third place. This was a very good event that can contribute experience to all teams but especially to MPC since they will be going to Holland to participate in the Olympic Moves project from June 4 to June 11.
